Accelerating action to tackle water pollution and enhance EU preparedness to water-related climate change impacts. The 5th EIP Water Conference aims to foster innovation in the water sector and overcome the main existing barriers. At the same time, it is a stepping stone into the future, as the current EIP Water is planned to end in 2020, and it will likely be followed by new actions to address water-related challenges, secure enhanced compliance with the EU water acquis and foster the research-policy interface, whilst strengthening partnerships for joint efforts.

During this event, ZERO BRINE is hosting a workshop: From waste to resource: Redesigning the value and supply chain of water and minerals in process industries.

The Platform on Coal Regions in Transition launched by the European Commission meets three times per year to discuss priority projects and best practices in coal regions:

  • The ‘Post Coal Economy and Structural Transformation’ group covers projects focusing on the economic diversification of coal regions
  • The ‘Energy System Transformation and Clean Air’ group covers projects focusing on the improvement of air quality and technologies which are compatible with the long-term vision of the decarbonisation of the European economy.

During the 6th working group meeting ZERO BRINE will present to present the contribution to transition strategies and the coal industry for which feedback is provided by Commission experts and stakeholders of the Platform.

The EREK international conference will demonstrate how successful businesses and industries seek resource efficient solutions, collaborate in a circular and social economy, and pursue digitalisation to gain a competitive edge.

From keynote speeches to practical sessions, the conference aims to gather the Resource Efficiency community by promoting exchanges between all actors, from new comers to front runners, from SMEs to business intermediaries, raising awareness of existing and upcoming opportunities to make the Circular Economy a reality.

ZERO BRINE is participating with a stand  presenting the circular economy approach to recover resources form industrial wastewater.

EIP Water Conference, Porto, Portugal

EIP Water Conference, Porto, Portugal 1920 1300 ZERO BRINE

For seven days, the City of Porto, in Portugal, will become the European capital of water and innovation. A set of three major events will gather over 1000 participants, including decision makers and technicians of utilities, political leaders, regulators, industry and agriculture representatives, investigators, tech companies, startups, SME’s and investors.

International leading voices and thought-leaders on water and innovation will discuss the key answers to the questions we now face in the water sector, under the EIP Water Conference 2017. Another conference, named Mayors & Water Conference 2017, will focus on Urban Water Agenda (2030) and show the innovative and sustainable water solutions implemented in cities. For students and young professionals, Water Innovation Lab (WIL) Europe Porto 2017 intends to shape the leadersof the future.

The common initiative for these three main events, which are deployed in various activities, is called Water & People and is composed of a set of actions aimed at involving the general population in the theme of “Water and Innovation”, namely street animation and performing arts in Porto downtown and AquaPorto – Water Festival 2017 in the City Park. Get ready for the surprises about to come!

These initiatives are free of charge (except for WIL Europe Porto, the Site Visits and the Innovation Dinner) but registration is required.
